The exhibition will start on June 23 at 6 pm at the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Foundation, in via Ghibellina 12. It will be open to the public from 3 to 8 pm every day until June 28th, with entry being completely free.

During the opening, you’ll have the chance to meet the people behind This must be us - and enjoy an aperitif with them.
This must be us features installation and performance art as well as photographs, oil paintings and light art by 16 emerging artists from the art academies based in Florence. Artworks will explore the idea of collective identities and all the questions that arise from it.

In an individualistic society, what do collective identities mean? Does identifying with others diminish our individual complexities and contradictions? The theme is derived from Dawn of a Nation. From Guttuso to Fontana and Schifano, the current exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi. The artists were challenged to think deeply about this subject, and to create artworks approaching the complexity of the theme and its paradoxical nature. From the obsession for technology to everyday habits that some of us might share: the coffee ritual, insomnia and TV shows magnetism. Love and its con icts, the search of identity, and how our experiences are affected by our environment are confronted in some of the artworks in the show.

The project itself is the result of a collective identity, since students from different schools, nationalities and backgrounds gathered to realize the exhibition. A dif cult selection process has led up to the 16 artworks showcased. The artists participating are: Giulia Del Sorbo, Elena Fabris, Elisa Perretti, Roza Belin, Teresa Bucca, Gi- useppe Guariglia, Riccardo Di Giovanni, Heather Albright, Cassidy Austin, Erika Vita, Noemi Cammareri, Zuo Houxinyi, Leopoldo Innocenti, Pengpeng Wang, Wang Jue, Narine Nalbandyan, Vitalii Fedotov, Wen Yuda and Yu Le.

The show invites the audience to get closer to this contemporary content and to engage in this debate, not expecting any answers or explanations. From this, it is a drawing draft, an unknown path to be walked without maps, a collective but intimate experience that art, in all its dimensions and expressions, allows us to feel.
